Up to 1000 killed in Kenya crisis

Up to 1000 people were killed in the violence and post-election riots. The president, Mwai Kibaki, deals with this crisis by inviting his biggest rival to talk and come to an agreement. George W. Bush urged both of them to talk with good faith and to regain the trust of the Kenyan citizens. Many people have said that the riots have been the biggest since independence from Britain in 1963. "I condemn the use of violence as a political tool and appeal to both sides to engage in peaceful dialogue aimed at finding a lasting political solution," Bush stated. To add to the chaotic crisis, the Law Society of Kenya declared that there was "dishonesty and ineptitude," and proclaimed that Kibaki's swearing-in "null and void," and urged a re-vote. They also said, "Kibaki lacks legitimacy to govern and this is the cause of the problems that we are facing as a country." But the Government disagreed and said other-wise.
