Canadian Forest is a Shield to Global Warming



The boreal forest, which covers almost half of Canada, Is playing a huge role in the battle against climate change. According to Globe And Mail The forest is one of the worlds largest carbon storage areas, retaining 27 times of the world annual greenhouse emissions. To help protect this valuable resource over 4 million hectares of land will be turned into national parks and protected areas. This is a relatively small amount compared to the forests total 560 million hectares. The Boreal Forrest is home to the largest population of grizzly bears, wolves, caribou and is the nesting ground for 3 billion songbirds and waterfowl. The boreal forest is one of the last intact large forests along with the Taiga in russia and The Amazon rain forest.
