Kenya News

According to Reuters Internetional News, riots and post-election violence has happened all over Kenya, with up to 1,000 deaths. Kenya has been hit by a lot of demonstrations and tribal clashes since the disputed win in Dec. 27th polls over the challenger; Raila Odinga. The government apparently raised its death toll to nearly 500 and 255,000 displaced Monday. But, according to Odinga, “closer to a thousand” had died. Aid workers have said that the toll could range higher after one of Kenya’s worst crises since independence from Britain in ’63. Kibaki’s office invited Odinga and other religious leaders to talks on Friday to figure out a way to stop the violence and “bring peace”. Other World powers have been horrified by the sudden outbreak of bloodshed in a country that was once seen as one of the most stable democracies and promising economies.
