Kathryn's GAOC focus story

Mikheil Saakashvili was re-elected as president of Georgia on Saturday. He says that this election proves that Russia is on it's way to become a European democracy.
Saakashvili is an ally to Washington, but still has to prove that he is still committed to democracy. This is because last year when he was president, he ordered the ending of anti-government protests and said there a state of emergency. Among other things, he shut down an independent television station.
Saakashvili's opponents say there will be a long protest, and they belive the election to have been rigged, becuase Saakashvili won with 51.94% of votes.
According to monitors, there were a lot of violations, including multiple votes being cast by the same person. They believe that the majority of the votes were legal though, and that the election results won't be changed by a re-vote.
